LEAVING THE BBC…

Yesterday i resigned from BBC Radio1, after an amazing multi-dimensional 14 year career.

The great freedoms the BBC have given in me as a broadcaster, have allowed me to help break so many confrontational artists as diverse as Slipknot and Skream, and of course, the whole genre of Dubstep in recent times.

My current Experimental show is in peak condition, it’s never been stronger. And although it’s a very emotional decision to leave the show that I love so much, it’s also an optimum moment to bow out, at the very top of my game.

My work for Radio1 on the Breezeblock, Rock Show, many fascinating documentaries about everything from David Bowie to Dubstep, on daytime, at festivals and award ceremonies, has been exceptionally rewarding. These have been glory days not just for me, but for all the artists who have shared my BBC platform, and of course, the listeners everywhere from Beijing to Berlin, Baltimore to Blackpool, who shared a great passion for future sound.

I will continue to DJ live, work in film, and curate at Sonar festival in Barcelona.

I have also accepted a new job mentoring and teaching students at the University of Sheffield’s Union Of Students radio station, TV station and the newspaper that operate out of their superb Forge Media Hub, which presents me with a really exciting new challenge.

My last show on BBC Radio1 will be broadcast:

Error Broadcast is back with another great digital EP and 7″ vinyl, this time it’s Comfort Fit‘s “Private Primate” with some crayyziee remixes from Shlohmo, Mr. Dibiase, DZA, Kenlo Craqnuques and Saine. 7″ is limited to 300 copies Worldwide, it features “Cable Vamp” and “Sky Raper” remix by Shlohmo on the flip! It’s so damn hard to pick just a few favorites, every track has something interesting that you really don’t want to skip it in the middle! Definitely it’s a strong and hi-quality release! It’s finally here! This year’s RBMA Various Assets is now officially served and ready to be tasted! Today is the day when you can enjoy 41 superb collaborations for FREE! Just imagine, what it would be like if you come to a restaurant and they say you: “Choose whatever you like, it’s free!” It feels the same with this compilation, you will find something for your taste, from house to hip-hop, from wonky to dubstep, etc., plus everything that tastes with a good pinch of future. I got many favorites on this compilation, and I already shared a few tracks from it, but now I prepared a couple of my favs! DZA feat. AD Bourke – “Endless Wishes” brings you smooth and dusty feel,  makes you wanna brush your sholders off and nod! The second, Hudson Mohawke, Robin Hannibal & Myele Manzanza – “Ain’t Nobody Like You” is like “yeahhh!”, from the very first chords you can tell that HudMo laid his fingers on this one, some synthetic melodies spiced with futuristic RNB is what you was waiting for! So yeah, if some of the participants are reading this blog – big up yourselves now, you made a good job! And of course, shoutout to the whole RBMA!

New, fresh and more than amazing Oriol‘s “Night and Day” album is about to hit digital stores tomorrow, July 19! Once more I will emphasize that it’s AMAZING release! I already checked the whole album and I can deff say that it’s one of my favorite releases this year! Sounds like Dam-Funk, Onra and Floating Points figured out to gather in one of their bedroom studios and BAM! we got a new album… Well, I’m surely not saying that it’s not original, it’s more than original and in some kind it feels like it was made with love, I mean it really feels that warm vibe… Enjoying it a lot! I got a few favorites and one free download for you, so here’s the first one, “Spiral” is the track that I’m gonna spin the most of the whole album, nice vocoded vocal on top, funky melody, perfect drums, phat hi-hats and snares and all that variations makes me wanna raise up the volume everytime it stars! Dope one! The second of my favs is entitled “JAM“, bringing you that perfect summer vibe crossed over 80′s boogie, what you need more is a cocktail inside of coconut shell and, of course, a beach. The last one, but not least is a free track by the name “Shay-Lo” which was given away a few weeks ago, so it’s all fresh! I don’t want to expand on this one, but it’s an amazing track as well, great snares!! You know what, Oriol just became one of my favorite producers, that’s for sure!
